Last Saturday was an event for the books! For a fourth year, China Peak Mountain Resort hosted my annual “Grind Out Hunger Rail Jam” which is a competition aimed to bring awareness to hunger and malnourishment by donating all of the proceeds to the Fresno Food Bank and GrindOutHunger.org to further educate and empower youth to END childhood hunger. $1 feeds a family of 4- with each entry fee being $5, if you participated in this years rail jam you fed 5 families of 4. With that statistic, I hope that if you didn’t participate this year you will next! Taldon Bressel (China Peak Park Manager) did a super rad job designing a course to fit the level of all riders making the competition fun and eligible for all ages and levels of skiers and snowboards. There were so many incredible sponsors this year: Santa Cruz Snowboards, FitAID, Indeegear, Colby Phillips art (used on the competition bandanas), the Fresno Boardroom, Good Vibes, Heat Wave Visual, Only In Santa Cruz, and Good Vibes. Shout out to everyone who makes this event fun and possible! Also, shout out to the Fresno State Snowboard and Ski club ladies who brought the biggest smiles to the rail jam! There was so much talent and so much encouragement going around, it was definitely a positive vibe zone, which just makes everyone stoked!
I hope to see you next year, if you want more information on this annual competition feel free to contact me on facebook (Marissa Hushaw). Want to see how much fun we had? Check out the video China Peak put together! -Marissa N. Hushaw
