We were asked to bring our skate ramp setup to the 2nd Annual Monterey Bay Youth Outdoor Day at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds. Our skaters put on a couple demo presentations showing other kids at the event the basics of skateboarding. Hunger Fighter Zane Keith was in the mix and even offered a couple mini lessons to kids that were interested. Skaters Dylan Morris, Garrett Ginner, and Jordan Nebanzahl showed off their moves throughout the day, encouraging other kids to pick up a skateboard and get outdoors. We had a full table setup there promoting the Grind Out Hunger cause and telling people about the upcoming opening of our facility on 41st Ave in Santa Cruz.
Grind Out Hunger founder, Danny Keith was asked to emcee the first half of the event. He was on the main stage encouraging everyone to visit all of the booths at the event, participate in the raffle and to come over to the stage when special guest and hunger fighter Gina Rene performed at around noon.
The majority of the crowd at the event fled to the main stage when Gina took stage and began to sing. After her performance she spent time meeting the kids and signing posters and CDs that she had available.
We would like to thank Elyse Destout for putting on this great event. We would also like to thank our skaters; Jordan Nebanzahl, Dylan Morrish, Zane Keith, and Garrett Ginner for putting on an awesome show and promoting safe skateboarding.
By the end of the event 540 Meals were raised. Amazing. Thanks to everyone that donated and supports the cause.
See you all next year!
